TAKE IT TO THE STREETS

The body of work ‘Take It To The Streets pays homage to females, past, and present, who have been brave enough to stand up for issues that affect us all, to use their voices in the hope of a better future.

Globally, women are losing hard-won liberties.  My documentation of contemporary issues in the medium of clay was deliberate.  Our history is now stored digitally, and these records are fragile, they can easily be destroyed and altered.

Ceramics lasts for centuries. It is important that the change-makers of our time are recorded for future generations to have knowledge of their actions and our issues.

The highly graphic ceramic plates are fired to porcelain temperature in their raw state. Irregularities are embraced as a metaphor for our struggle, they are raw and imperfect, but bold and unashamedly brazen

WHAT IF WE CHANGED THE STATION

We are tired.

How long must this journey last?

or

perhaps, it’s a dance,

             one step forward,

     two steps back.

                                         It makes no sense.

Well, to a few it might…....

To the ones that choose the music,

like conductors,

they guide the tune.

What if we changed the station?
