An Introduction To Slip Casting - With Kim Long

Kara Wood Ceramics is excited to announce our newest workshop, An Introduction to Slip Casting workshop.  Have you ever wanted to create a contemporary ceramic form, then this workshop is for you.

Come join us in the studio where you will learn about the process of slip-casting.  Slip casting is a method of pouring liquid clay into plaster molds to create multiples of the same shape.

You can choose to slip cast from the moulds provided to make either a pair of tea/coffee cups or bowls.  You will then decorate them with  your own pattern/design.  During the workshop you will also have the chance to create a mono print onto a slip-cast slab and create a simple vessel.

 

This introductory workshop is designed to accommodate any skill level.

The workshop is run in the studio on Saturday afternoons from.  This time slot has been selected to accommodate 's sporting commitments and any Saturday morning responsibilities that you may have..

Included in the workshop cost is:

  • 3.5 hours of Tuition

  • Clay slip

  • Ceramic paint for decoration

  • Firing

  • Glazing

  • Afternoon tea

  • Tea & Coffee

  • Glass champagne

To Bring:

  •  Wear old clothes that you are comfortable getting dirty.

  • A blank book to write notes if you like
